Maria Theresia

Majkin Salaš   traditional Vojvodina style restaurant. Located in Palić, right next to Cvetni Salaš, on a property that takes up 20 ha of land. The farm was regenerated in line with the worldwide development of eco-tourism and the trend to turn the people of the modern age more to nature, offering them  traditional cuisine and an insight in  the culture and customs of the region.

Maria Theresiopolis  is one of the 200 names that Subotica had over its history. Subotica was named  Maria Theresiopolis from the time when Maria Theresia- the Empress, proclaimed Subotica a free borough under the Crown.

Memorial Fountain in Palić, in front of the Grand Terrace, was built in 1912 to mark the end of construction works on the Grand Terrace and the  Music Pavilion, both built in art nouveau style.  The fountain harmoniously fits in the ambient of the Palić promende.

Mlaka is the south part of the city, from both ends of Prvomajska street. This terrain is a floody lowland, which had been marshy pasture and fen before it was turned to gardens. A streamlet, Fok , used to run through Mlaka carrying excess water from Lake Kelebija , cross Veliki Rit and Jasi bog into Mali Palić. Mlaka was built during the second part of the 18th century, when the residents of Subotica built their houses on the elevated part of land of their gardens there.

Mlekara Subotica  a stockholding company that deals with milk production and procession and production of dairy products. It was founded in 1955. Since the year of 2003 it has been operating within  the Danube Foods Group, along with the following companies: Bambi, Knjaz Miloš and Imlek. Mlekara’s mission is to produce health-safe dairy products and top quality services. It currently employs 316 people.

Mosque   in Subotica, was officialy opened on August 24th 2008. This Muhajir Mosque is the first Islamic building, that was built in the last two centuries on the main road from Sofia to Budapest. Muamer Zukurlić, the head mufti of the Islamic Community in Serbia, considers the opening of the Mosque in Subotica, a historic event and a sign of tolerance and understanding of the local government for the members of all religious groups.
