Brief description of the project:

Reconstruction of the north-eastern facade of the Synagogue in Subotica, a monography about Ferenc Raichle, Art Nouveau exhibition in Senta, conferences and professional workshops.

The project concentrates on the exploration, preservation and wide-ranging promotion of the highly significant Art Nouveau heritage of Szeged, Subotica and Senta within the framework of the “2.1.2 Development of thematic routes of cultural heritage” priority.

Specificity and richness of secession in culture and architecture are priceless and therefore it is essential to work on the preservation of buildings that are part of this art direction.

The main idea is developing consciousness and education of a broader public on the importance of Art Nouveau heritage surrounding us that is equally inspiring today as well as in the period of its creation.

Workshops and conferences will be organized within the project. Also, a thematic route called “The Jewels of Art Nouveau” will be set and promoted through tourist and art historical brochures, a webpage, and a professional study tour organized for tourist experts.

Partial reconstruction of two endangered monuments, the Gróf-palace in Szeged and the Synagogue in Subotica is also planed in the project and the next step of the long-term programme is designing of reconstruction plans for the Shäffer-palace in Szeged.

Professional cooperation that will take place among the project partners will generate cross-border economic and social relations, which can stimulate the increase in the region’s competitiveness.

With the successful introduction of the model designed for the preservation of our joint heritage and the development of tourism, we set “best practice” for further similar initiative and projects, which can further strengthen the potentials that lie in the cooperation of the two countries.
